We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for our first annual EmpowHER Women's Leadership Summit. Thank you for helping us create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere where every voice was heard and valued. Your friendship and encouragement are invaluable as we strive to uplift and empowHER women in our community!

An extra special thanks to the women who were the heart of this event: Keynote Speakers Shelby Williams Broomfield, Shirley Kearse Williams, and Milisa Peachey as well as discussion panel members Margo Huggins and Staceyann Barnett-Palmer. Your willingness to share your knowledge and experiences was incredibly inspiring and your dedication to your field and your passion for meaningful discourse were evident throughout the panel. Thank you to our awesome guest speaker Amanda Hiott Croft for your inspiring words that truly set the tone for the rest of the evening!

We want to congratulate the two winners of our EmpowHER Legacy Award, Alex Whitbeck and Lawanda T Patterson. Your outstanding achievements and dedication to serving and enriching your community serve as an inspiration to us all!

A HUGE thanks as well to Melinda Ray and the entire team at Lucy Lu’s Cafe. The charcuterie spread was as stunning as it was delicious and the meal was out of this world!

We cannot recommend The Barn at Hutto Farms enough, the entire venue is stunning and the amazing owners made the location portion of planning a breeze! If you are thinking of hosting an event in or near Williston, please consider this gorgeous location!!

Last but certainly not least, we want to recognize the incredible efforts of our own Josh Bekah Grubbs. EmpowHER is her vision, and the impact it has already made on our community is incredible. We can't wait to share all of the exciting new things Rebekah is working on for EmpowHER and beyond!

We are so excited to have the incredible Carson Alexander as a discussion panel member for our EmpowHER Summit! A native of Augusta, Georgia and a University of Georgia School of Law graduate, Carson is a trial lawyer who focuses her practice on personal injury law. Carson fights for individuals who have been injured, helping them obtain the compensation they deserve. Whether it be a car wreck, truck accident, or other injury accident Carson helps injured individuals navigate the legal process. Prior to joining the law office, Carson was an Assistant Solicitor for the 2nd Judicial Circuit and prosecuted cases throughout Barnwell, Bamberg, and Aiken Counties. She completed a judicial clerkship in the Circuit Court of South Carolina, the highest civil and criminal state trial court in South Carolina. There, Carson clerked for the Honorable Brian M. Gibbons, Chief Administrative Judge of the 6th Judicial Circuit. Previously, Carson was a staff attorney for the Honorable J. Wade Padgett and the Honorable Daniel J. Craig of the Augusta Judicial Circuit. When she’s not in the office Carson enjoys staying involved in the local community, gardening, golfing, spending time with family, friends, and her 70 lb pup Amicus.

We are over the moon to have Shirley Kearse Williams as a keynote speaker at our EmpowHER Summit! Shirley is a 1980 graduate of Barnwell High School. She graduated from Columbia Junior College in 1982 with an Associate Degree in General Secretary Studies. Shirley is currently employed with Barnwell School District 45 at Barnwell Primary School where she works as a teacher’s assistant with the Special Education Program. Throughout her career at Barnwell Primary School, she has been encouraged to apply for different positions within the district but she chose to remain where her heart is and with the students that she loves. She has been with Barnwell Primary School for 26 years. Shirley is also employed with Dreams Imagination & Gift Development Program as a teacher’s assistant and recreation coordinator. In her spare time, Shirley enjoys spending time with her 3 grandchildren (Zailia, Kaiden, and Harper), shopping, and working on different community projects with her family. She is a member of Ned Branch Missionary Baptist Church in which she is a part of the Connect Team where she is responsible for connecting the community to her church. Shirley and her late husband Willie J. Williams have 3 children: Shelby Williams Broomfield, Angel Williams (deceased), and Trey Williams.

Staceyann Barnett-Palmer brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our panel as a highly qualified international teacher hailing from Jamaica. With a rich educational background, including a Diploma in Early Years Education from Shortwood Teachers’ College in Jamaica and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the Institute of Education in England. Staceyann has honed her skills across three different countries. In recent years, she has continued to expand her knowledge base, earning a Master’s Degree in Literacy and an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Assessment from Walden University. With over two decades of experience in the field of education, she has worked with students ranging from second grade to sixth grade, demonstrating her versatility and dedication to nurturing young minds. For the past three years, Staceyann has served as an Early Intervention Program (EIP) teacher in the Richmond County School System, where she has played a pivotal role in supporting students in need of additional Numeracy and Literacy assistance. Beyond her work in education, she is venturing into entrepreneurship with the upcoming launch of Jam Rock Kravinz, a Jamaican restaurant in Barnwell. This exciting endeavor reflects her passion for both education and culinary arts, showcasing her drive to make a positive impact in her community as a Jamaican. Staceyann is also a wife and devoted mother of four children: Romario (29), Alex (27), Akil (23), and Aiyanna (14). Her commitment to both her family and her professional endeavors is truly commendable.

We are so excited to announce that the remarkable Margo Huggins will be joining the discussion panel at our EmpowHER Women's Leadership Summit! Margo is a graduate of The University of Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Biological Science and Entomology before going on to receive her MBA in Business Administration and Management from USC. Today, in addition to working full time as a technical sales representative for Americot, Margo owns and operates Rivendell Farms in Williston, SC along with her husband Bradley. Rivendell Farms offers gorgeous seasonal weekly and bi-weekly floral bouquets as well as centerpieces and arrangements for meetings, graduations, family gatherings, and rehearsal dinners.

We are so excited to have the wonderful Milisa Peachey as a keynote speaker at our EmpowHER Women's Leadership Summit! Milisa served in U.S. Air Force for over a decade before deciding to follow her passion by returning to school where she earned an Associate Degree in Interior Design. Her desire to use her talent for Interior Design led her to Bespoke Interiors in Aiken, SC where she has been a part time team member since 2017. In 2023, Milisa took the plunge into entrepreneurship and opened her own incredible interior design studio, Cotton Avenue Design. Since moving from her home state of California, Milisa and her husband acquired what is now Peachey Farms in Williston, SC where she also homeschools her three children.
